One always needs a goal. I always need a next destination. Since our fabulous trip to Istanbul has become a thing of the past, however beautiful the memory, Mr A and myself are currently focussing on our next trip out of the country: Portugal.
We are looking into flying to Lisbon, renting a car and cruising around the country for two weeks in September.

Flights are booked, vegan meals are ordered for all flights (and for both passengers – he’s getting more adorable by.the.day.) and I’m already halfway into my packing list. Since it’s a summer trip, weight won’t be an issue when packing and I’ll be able to sneak an extra maxi dress or pair of sandals into my suitcase to look cool in our holiday pictures.
At the moment we are putting together a rough itinerary.
I am filling my custom-made Portugal-trip on Happy Cow app with places to eat and we’re also likely to incorporate the odd place that looked so beautiful on the photos of my Dad’s recent cycling trip from Lisbon to Málaga.

So far my list of things to do in Portugal in September reads as follows:
- Take a photo of a tram in Lisbon
- Enjoy the view from a few of the many miradouros (lookouts)
- Drink (vegan) port
- Visit the sea cave pictured above
- Burrow my toes in the sand
- Optional: I’d be over the moon if I could take a surf lesson or three.
In short: can’t wait.

Have you been to Portugal? Which places or things do you especially recommend we don’t miss out on?

Hi there!
Forgot to mention our stays in Lisbon 2 years ago earlier. I can recommend anything from shiadu group (check out http://shiadu.com/guesthouses-in-lisbon-portugal/).
One of their guesthouses, monte belvedere, hosts a beutiful terrace restaurant (http://shiadu.com/restaurante/en/) – maybe they can prepare a vegan dinner if they know in advance 😉
Thank you, Alex, for your insight! I’ll definitely send them an email – I’m sure they’ll be willing to grill some veggies for me 🙂
