New York City. There is barely any other city in the world so much has been said, written or sung about. Everyone you’ll meet will have their own stories about this city – whether they are actually their own or someone else’s does not matter. Alicioustravels: Off to New York
While you are reading this, Mum and I are on our way across the Atlantic, if we haven’t already touched down at NYC’s JFK airport.
It’s the first holiday with Mum – except for that oh-so-relaxing spa weekend at Die Wasnerin last spring – since 2005 and we’ve both really looked forward to spending a whole 10 days together. Continue reading Alicioustravels: Off to New York
Aliciouslife: Picking wild blackberries
When I was five years old we moved from an apartment in a town of 50,000 to a house with garden to a village of a few hundred. It’s the place where my maternal grandfather was born, called Wald which – aptly – translates to “forest”. Continue reading Aliciouslife: Picking wild blackberries
Aliciouslife: Escaping the heat
While I am more than happy in regard to the current temperatures (it actually feels like summer) I will always prefer to spend the hottest days of the year outside the city.
The forecast of mid-30s and thunderstorms was a welcome excuse to visit my parents – with a detour via a strawberry field. Continue reading Aliciouslife: Escaping the heat
Aliciouslife: At my parents’ place in Lower Austria
Returning from the most relaxing spa-days at Die Wasnerin in Bad Aussee I didn’t go straight back to Vienna but decided to spend Saturday and Sunday at my parents’ place in rural Lower Austria.
Mr A joined us on Sunday morning and we had a full day of taking in the spring air, lounging about talking to my parents and my brother, who had come to visit as well – with the year’s first barbecue to top it off. Continue reading Aliciouslife: At my parents’ place in Lower Austria
Alicioustravels: Spa-weekend at Die Wasnerin
This year, Mum had a very special birthday present for me: a spa-weekend at Die Wasnerin, a four-star superior wellness hotel in picturesque Salzkammergut. We chose the weekend of 1st May (a public holiday in Austria) for our little retreat and booked massages and treatments in advance. Continue reading Alicioustravels: Spa-weekend at Die Wasnerin

Aliciouslife: Christmas lights
Oh, the lights. Each year I’m once more excited when the first Christmas lights are put up on Vienna’s shopping streets. Then the markets come up and I’m again mesmerised. Continue reading Aliciouslife: Christmas lights
