Aliciouswedding: What went well and what didn’t go as planned

One of the things I heard the most – and loathed hearing the most – was: “You know that as much as you plan, something will definitely go wrong on your wedding day. Please keep that in mind.”

No. Continue reading Aliciouswedding: What went well and what didn’t go as planned

Aliciouswedding: My bridal shower

Some time after Christmas my maid of honour had enquired whether I would be ok with her arranging some sort of bridal shower. Hating the hordes of drunk brides-to-be who regularly roam Vienna with their trays encroaching on strangers to selling them Jägermeister while having to complete “funny” challenges such as shaving a man’s leg I reluctantly agreed, dearly hoping that day wasn’t going to be hell.

Aliciouslife: My balcony garden – 2016 update

During the hot and dry summer of 2015 my balcony garden had ample time to thrive and throw off fruit. While last year I couldn’t wait to get going and planted the first seeds as soon as February, I wasn’t quite as eager lazy this year and only started playing around in mid-March.

Alicioustravels: Rax – our favourite local mountain

One of many things that make living in Vienna so convenient is the fact that it takes you less than 2 hours to get to the mountains. And I mean mountains, not rolling hills. Real mountains to hike, climb and ski. Over the years, Rax has evolved as the favourite mountain of choice for a relaxing day trip. Aliciouslyvegan: Meal planning for a week of hiking

For our recent stay at Achensee we decided to rent an apartment to not only save money but also for maximum flexibility in regards to eating. It’s not always easy to find vegan food in rural Austria and I didn’t want to take any chances (also, I may be the reason the word “hangry” was originally invented). As mentioned in my previous post, Mr A and I did a fair bit of walking during our recent holiday at Achensee.

Our hikes of choice – which all turned out to be amazing – were the following Continue reading Alicioustravels: Hiking the Achensee region

Alicioustravels: An Ode to Achensee

As you will have seen on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, we had a pretty awesome week: gorgeous mountain weather with blue skies and little wind, barely any other tourists and a lovely apartment – all in a prime locations for people who love the outdoors.

Our getaway to Achensee last week was so perfect in every way that we were not only reluctant to leave, we actually added another day and only arrived back in Vienna yesterday. I guess that says it all. Continue reading Alicioustravels: An Ode to Achensee

Alicioustravels: Achensee

Mr A and myself had been contemplating a hiking trip in early summer for a while but only now did we decide to actually book it. While initially Alto Adige or Lake Garda in Italy together with the area around Bled in Slovenia were our favoured destinations, we eventually decided on a place much closer – and in Austria. Continue reading Alicioustravels: Achensee

Aliciouslyvegan: Kochabo once more

Two weeks ago I noticed that there was a free fruit basket with each order of a Kochabo box. I only briefly mentioned the recipes planned for that week to Mr A and we immediately agreed that we would reactivate our subscription to get the ingredients for three vegan meals delivered to our door the next Monday. Continue reading Aliciouslyvegan: Kochabo once more
