Things I want to do once a year every year

These are what I consider my “little adventures”. Things that make/ keep me happy and I will therefore strive to do at least once a year, every year:

  • Attend a dress-up event (i.e. ball, wedding,…)
  • Have a picnic
  • Go ice-skating
  • Go skiing
  • Swim in a river, a lake, the ocean
  • Travel outside Austria
  • Travel outside Europe
  • Take at least two consecutive weeks of holidays
  • Eat out at least once a month
  • Write a physical letter to a friend
  • Watch a sunrise
  • Watch a sunset
  • Climb a mountain
  • Climb a via ferrata
  • Cross one thing off my “List of things I want to do before I die”

In 2017 I also want to

  • Do my tax returns since 2012
  • Get more blog-savvy
  • Learn to bake bread
  • Perfect a recipe for super-chewy choc chip cookies

2016 went like this:

  • Attend a dress-up event (i.e. ball, wedding) – I guess our wedding counts? If not, there was Vegan Ball in February 🙂
  • Have a picnic
  • Go ice-skating – Wiener Eislaufverein in January
  • Go skiing
  • Swim in the Danube, a lake, the ocean – I swam in the balmy ocean waters of the Colombian Carribbean as well as in rather chilly Sommersbergsee
  • Travel outside Austria – rather spontaneously went to Munich for a weekend to attend Love Circus Bash (a wedding fair)
  • Travel outside Europe – I did and to the fantastic wedding of my good friend Petra from Urban Breezes and her fabulous husband in Cartagena, Colombia, no less.
  • Take at least two consecutive weeks of holidays – see above
  • Eat out at least once a month – Just like last year we very readily complied
  • Write a physical letter to a friend
  • Watch a sunrise – already have; again, from the office
  • Watch a sunset – many, many, often from our balcony
  • Climb a mountain – Kleiner Gjaidstein because the via ferrata mentioned below wasn’t enough
  • Climb a via ferrata – In absence of cable car tickets up to Dachstein glacier, we climbed Via Ferrata Hundskogel to get there.
  • Cross one thing off my “List of things I want to do before I die”On 10 September I got married to a man who has made me very happy and continues to do so on a daily basis

In 2016 I also want to

  • Watch one TED-Talk each week –  on average
  • Participate in a 30-day challenge – That was Veganuary 2015 for me as well as Sugar-Free July

In 2015 I also want to

  • Take my Mum to New York – She’s never been and I promised to take her once she retired, which she is going to do with the end of the school year. Therefore, we’re travelling to fabulous NYC together to take in the pre-Christmas craziness in December. – It was awesome! You can read more about our fabulous trip HERE (in general), HERE (food-wise) and HERE (re shopping)
  • Practise yoga regularly: on top of my daily sun salutations I want to practise in class once a week. – Totally failed at that.
  • Have Aliciouslog be noticed and make my first earnings from it – Nope. That hurt.
  • Stop hating burpees so much – I think we’re good
  • Make vegan not only the way I eat and make better and more sustainable choices – getting there

In 2014, I was pretty successful and able to cross of quite  a few things of my list:

  • attend a dress-up event (i.e. ball, wedding) – already attended two weddings this year (Georg & Sandra’s in July and Wolfgang & Ileana’s in September)
  • Have a picnic
  • Go ice-skating
  • Go skiing – We went skiing in Gosau in April
  • Swim in the Danube – after our epic canooing trip in July
  • Travel outside Austria – Chicago (April – Mai), New Zealand (August – September)
  • Travel outside Europe – Chicago (April – Mai), New Zealand (August – September)
  • Take at least two consecutive weeks of holidays – I took, ahem, five to go to New Zealand with Mr A
  • Eat out at least once a month – absolutely
  • Write a physical letter to a friend
  • Watch a sunrise – from the plane to New Zealand (above the Australian desert) as well as in New Zealand (Kaikoura comes to mind)
  • Watch a sunset – Mr A and I watched numerous breathtaking sunsets in NZL and Vienna treated us generously for the last 2 weeks of 2014
  • Read one book per month – definitely
  • Climb a mountain – Rax, among others, where I discovered vegan food on the menu of Karl Ludwig Haus
  • Climb a via ferrata
  • Cross one thing off my “List of things I want to do before I die”

In 2014 I also wanted to

  • Eat vegan for a month – started on 1 February and haven’t looked back
  • Re-start Aliciouslog…again – since you can read this, I must’ve succeeded
